'Hoedown for Hope' benefits Marley's Mission

A fundraiser for a local nonprofit took place in Scranton Saturday night.

SCRANTON, Pa. — The Hoedown for Hope at the Scranton Art Haus Theater included a silent auction, specialty drinks, and dessert.

The hoedown benefits Marley's Mission, a non-profit organization that provides horse-assisted therapy to those who have experienced trauma.

"It really does take all of us to participate together to help build hope for kids in our region. That's what we've seen; we've been doing it for over a decade. And the only way we can do it is because of the strength and generosity and goodness of this community," said Gene Talerico,  President of Marley's Mission.

The Hoedown for Hope is the primary fundraiser for Marley's Mission each year.
