Hay donations to help Tennessee farm impacted by Hurricane Helene

Truck drivers Chad Marushock and Brett Diehl set off on the ten-hour journey to Eastern Tennessee Sunday evening.

OLYPHANT, Pa. — Truck drivers in Lackawanna County are lending a helping hand to those affected by Hurricane Helene.

Chad Marushock and Brett Diehl set off from Olyphant on the ten-hour journey to Eastern Tennessee Sunday evening with two tractor-trailers full of hay.

The hay donated by local farmers in Northeastern Pennsylvania will help a cow farm in Johnson City that lost everything but its cattle to the hurricane.

"We're local guys, you know, small name business, small town business, and we want to give back to our small town southern friends. You know they lost everything in the flood in the hurricane, the farmer lost all his hay and all his equipment, so we're going to try the best we can to help him out," said Chad Marushock, driver for Marushock Trucking.

The drivers left around 6 p.m. Sunday evening and hope to arrive in Tennessee by early Monday morning.
