Gov. Shapiro highlights tax rebate program

Governor Josh Shapiro spoke at the Robert Dougherty High Rise in Dunmore Monday morning, highlighting property tax rebates.

DUNMORE, Pa. — The governor made a stop in Dunmore on Monday to tout the expansion of the state's property tax-rent rebate program.

He signed the expansion to help older adults last year.

It made more seniors eligible for rebates and raised the maximum rebate from $650 to $1,000.

Some seniors living at the Robert Dougherty High Rise received their rebates today.

"Seniors here in Northeastern Pennsylvania and all across this Commonwealth told me how challenging it was to live on a fixed income. We know that prices are rising, that costs are rising, we know that it hits our seniors who are on a fixed income particularly hard," said Gov. Shapiro.

Applications are still open for eligible seniors until December 31st. For more information, click here.
