Fundraiser held for Scranton flood victim

The fundraiser at VFW Post 25 along Rockwell Avenue in Scranton benefitted Janet Kelly, whose home was destroyed by flooding back in early September.

SCRANTON, Pa. — A fundraiser in Scranton helped a victim of the flooding that wreaked havoc in parts of northeastern Pennsylvania back in early September.

VFW Post 25 along Rockwell Avenue in Scranton held the fundraiser to benefit Janet Kelly, who lost her home to the floodwaters that hit Leggett Street in the city.

Janet says she is grateful for everyone who came out to support her, "I had two feet of water on my first floor, which I never ever had before. Right now, I'm just going through the motions and trying to deal with everything. My heart is about to explode. I just feel so loved and so blessed. It's just amazing. I have a lot of amazing people around me, and there's people I don't even know who they are that are here too."

The event included basket raffles, music, and food in Lackawanna County.
