Fundraiser benefits St. Cats & Dogs in Scranton

The fundraiser held at Mutant Brewing in downtown Scranton benefits St. Cats & Dogs of Nay Aug Zoo.

SCRANTON, Pa. — Folks in part of Lackawanna County said cheers this weekend for a good cause.

Newspaper Weekender columnist Christopher Vernon teamed up with Mutant Brewing in downtown Scranton for a cat-tastic event.

Tickets bought patrons their first drink, with the rest of the proceeds going towards St. Cats & Dogs of Nay Aug Zoo.

"I adopted my boy from there back in March. And honestly, it does not surprise me that someday any circumstances can change. I could become homeless and on the street just like any cat, dog, and literally person. So I feel everybody should try to put a little bit of kindness and just support out there for those in need," said Christopher Vernon, organizer.

The event wrapped up around 4 p.m. in Scranton.
