Friends for Waldo's fundraiser held in Scranton

The fundraiser held at the V-Spot Bar in Scranton raised money for Waldo's Tavern, which caught fire back in February.

SCRANTON, Pa. — A bar in Scranton had some St. Patrick's Day fun Sunday, all while helping out another business.

In February, a fire damaged Waldo's Bar along Green Ridge Street in the city.

The building had smoke and water damage, and all the perishables inside had to be thrown out.

Part of the restaurant was able to open for Scranton's parade day, but the work is far from over.

To help everyone at Waldo's get back on their feet, managers at the V-spot bar decided to host a fundraiser Sunday complete with live music, basket raffles, and a 50/50 drawing.

"The V-Spot reached out probably about three days after the fire. And you know, you can't say no to Vinny. So he said I have to do this. We're doing this, and I said, alright, let's go. Everybody's been so helpful donating, showing up, just showing their love. You know the community really comes together when you need it," said Morgan Butnoski, owner of Waldo's.

The event continues until 7 p.m. Sunday night at the V-Spot in Scranton.
