OLD FORGE, Pa. — Free smoke alarms were handed out in Lackawanna County on Tuesday.
The alarms were given out from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Engine Company 93 in Old Forge.
The Lackawanna County Department of Health has partnered with the American Red Cross to provide and install free smoke alarms.
Narcan and COVID-19 tests were also available at the distribution in Lackawanna County.
"Some of the initiatives that the Department of Health is doing is giving out things like Narcan and COVID tests, and we know that substance-use disorders is a huge issue in this area, so along with giving out the smoke alarms, we want to make sure folks have access to lifesaving things like Narcan," said Emma Graham, the health policy and promotion manager for the Lackawanna County Department of Health.
Officials said they plan more giveaways.
