Free community dinner in Scranton

People gathered at the Weston Field for a free community dinner on Thursday.

SCRANTON, Pa. — People came to a free community dinner in Lackawanna County on Thursday.

The local nonprofit Fork Over Love partnered with area restaurants to give people a meal. The event was hosted at Weston Field in Scranton. In three and a half years, Fork Over Love has served over 78,000 dinners, primarily in Luzerne County.

"The organizations, the restaurants who partner with us to put these incredible meals out into the community, and the volunteers; we have over 300 volunteers that help come out and distribute different neighborhoods, so it's really been amazing," said Tracey Selingo, founder of Fork Over Love.

Fork Over Love moves anywhere from 400 to 800 dinners a week around Luzerne, Lackawanna, and Wyoming counties.
