JERMYN — A Good Friday tradition in Lackawanna County is the annual fish fry at the Artisan Hose Company in Jermyn.
Volunteers tell us they expect to sell 2,000 dinners.
Some people drove hours for the Lenten meal.
“We left around 10 and, of course, it’s about a two-hour drive here and when we pulled up I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, I don’t believe it.’ No, I didn’t expect the line,” said Rosie Bruner from Fort Indiantown Gap.
This is the main fundraiser for the Artisan Hose Company. They are hoping to raise about $15,000 between the fish dinners and the raffle.
That money is needed more than ever. Members tell us their engine truck broke down two weeks ago and they need to raise more than $500,000 to get a new one.
