DUNMORE, Pa. — A death investigation is underway in Lackawanna County at the Dunmore Elementary Center.
Dunmore School District Superintendent John Marichak confirms that an employee of a contractor died at the elementary school last week on August 27th.
Marichak told Newswatch 16 that no students or staff were around when the death occurred, and it was determined that it was safe for students and staff to attend school.
Lackawanna County Coroner Timothy Rowland identified 81-year-old Gary Porter as the custodial worker who was found dead inside the school.
Rowland said the circumstances surrounding Porter's death are under investigation and could not release any additional details.
Dunmore Police say this is an active investigation and they are working with the Lackawanna County District Attorney's Office.
