Fundraiser held for couple who lost home in fire

Folks in Lackawanna County came together Sunday to support a couple who lost their home to a fire last month.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — A young couple devasted by a fire found help from a community in Lackawanna County.

Carly and Robert Zaorski were the beneficiaries of a fundraiser Sunday at Buddy Clarke's in Dunmore.

The goal was to help the two get back on their feet following a fire last month that burned through their home in Throop and claimed the lives of three of their cats. The Zaorskis are currently staying with family.

Carly Zaorski said they may have lost much of their belongings, but Sunday proved they're wealthy when it comes to love and friendship, "It's really emotional to see everybody come out and do all this stuff because, I mean, you would do it for other people, but you never expect it for yourself so that's a lot."

Carly and her husband, Robert, married about a month before the fire. A state police fire marshal investigated the fire and said a space heater was to blame.
