DUNMORE, Pa. — Bartholomew and Captain Hook are a bonded pair of cats currently being fostered through Animal Care Associates. You can meet them next Friday on Newswatch 16 at 5 p.m. as the feature for 16 To The Rescue

But this week in Lackawanna County, you can support them and the rest of their buddies at Animal Care Associate's annual fundraising event.

"It's a fun event. Everyone is stressed, right? Who doesn't want to laugh? It's an awesome event to come to. It's nice to see everybody. It's nice to see adopters and supporters come out and, of course, helps us raise funds that we desperately need," said Katrina Sonnenberg, Animal Care Associates.

Comedy for the Kitties is this Friday, November 29, at the Holiday Inn in Dunmore.

Scranton Comedy Club hosts it, and there will be three acts, along with a host and tons of raffle baskets, all to benefit Animal Care Associates and the dozens of cats under the rescue's care. Animal Care Associates is a non-profit; it is entirely foster-based and volunteer-run.

"We thought times were bad with COVID. It's worse now. The struggle is harder. More people are in need of help. There are more strays there are more abandonment cases and more cruelty cases. It costs a lot to keep all of those things going. So we have to keep going in order to do that," Sonnenberg said.

Tickets for Comedy for Kitties are $15. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m. You must reserve your tickets beforehand so the money can go to Animal Care Associates. You can purchase tickets by clicking here.
