SCRANTON, Pa. — With three heat waves in the books so far this summer, keeping cool isn't always easy. That's why the city of Scranton collected items to make sure everyone has what they need to beat the heat.
The city hosted a heat-related items drive at Weston Field House on Providence Road Friday morning. Residents dropped off donations of water, sunscreen, Gatorade, and other supplies to help the less fortunate stay cool.
"Together, everyone achieves more. It's always important to help your community; let them know they are not out there alone. It could easily be you or myself, so it's as simple as that," said Channel Kerase, Scranton outreach coordinator.
All of the donations collected today will be distributed to homeless shelters throughout Scranton.
