LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — A church in Lackawanna County hosted an ethnic food festival this weekend.
The fundraiser, held by Saint George's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church in Taylor, started as a church picnic.
However, because of the pandemic and the strain of setting everything up, it has morphed into a takeout food drive.
It's one of the ways folks can give back to the church.
Beverly Leasure, a member of St. George's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, spoke about some of the foods at the festival, "We make the potato pancakes from scratch, so a lot of people are interested in those, and the line was huge for those. As well as our other food, our stuffed cabbage and our pierogi, they are all homemade. We open at noon and are here until we sell out."
All proceeds from the fundraiser go to the church.
You can still get a bite at the church in Lackawanna County from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
