CARBONDALE, Pa. — All you can eat wings and chili will be on the menu at the Hotel Anthracite in Carbondale tomorrow. It's the second annual Chili and Wing Cook-off, which benefits the Human Resources Foundation.
"Just nice to do for the Human Resources Foundation and also gives a nice opportunity for restaurants to come and compete," Adam Gooler of Hotel Anthracite said.
There are more than a dozen restaurants participating, trying to see who has the best wings and who makes the tastiest chili.
"There's a ballot that we have that everyone gets as they walk through the door and then based on who they like, they're welcome to select that. There's trophies awarded to them, best chili and best wings. We have people's and judge's choice as well," Gooler said.
There will also be raffles, prizes and a silent auction. All proceeds benefit the Human Resources Foundation, which is a non-profit that helps people with disabilities in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
"We give them adaptive equipment. It could be a tub cut, it could be a ramp, a stair glide, it could be a lift. We do an assessment of the home with the homeowner," Dan Card of the Human Resources Foundation said.
The Human Resources Foundation formed in 2015 as a way to improve the quality of life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
"With the more money that we have, obviously the more assistance we can put back out to the people who need this, people with disabilities who actually need the help in our community," Card said.
The Chili and Wing Cook-off is tomorrow from 12-4 at the Hotel Anthracite. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for kids 10 and under. You can buy tickets at the door.
