SCRANTON, Pa. — A nonprofit working to "chop out hunger" across our area got some help from the TEGNA Foundation on Friday.
Child Hunger Outreach Partners (CHOP) accepted a $1,500 grant at its Scranton office.
CHOP began serving 45 middle school students in Towanda, Bradford County, and has grown to serve tens of thousands of students weekly in Pennsylvania in several counties, according to its website.
The organization's initiatives include a student food backpack program, in-school pantries, community pop-up pantries, and summer meal programs.
The TEGNA Foundation supports nonprofit organizations in communities served by TEGNA Inc. The community grant program serves to address local community needs. TEGNA is the parent company of WNEP.
