DUNMORE, Pa. — A worker at a care facility in Lackawanna County has been charged with abusing one of the residents.

Jamie Lee Auer, 41, of Throop, is charged with abuse of a care-dependent person and harassment.

Investigators say a witness saw Auer slap a resident at the Beacon Specialized Living/Keystone Community Resource Center facility on Homestead Street in Dunmore in September.

The home cares for two clients who have mental and intellectual disabilities.

Auer was placed on leave after a supervisor was alerted to the alleged incident.
