Bus service from AVP to PHL begins, allows travelers to skip security lines in Philadelphia

American Airlines travelers can now check in at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport and get a lift to PHL for their flights.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — Air travelers leaving from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport on American Airlines can now connect via shuttle to Philadelphia International Airport.

The new service began on August 6, and buses will operate four times a day in each direction between AVP and PHL.

The new service allows passengers to clear security at AVP and board a bus to Philadelphia's Terminal F.

One bonus, travelers will not have to clear security again and can walk to their gate.

American Airlines and The Landline Company are operating the service. The two companies run the same service from Allentown to Philadelphia.

Bags are handled the same way as flights. Passengers check their luggage with American Airlines on arrival, and the airport's baggage handling system handles it from there.

When returning to AVP from Philadelphia, passengers will board the bus airside and arrive nonstop directly at AVP.

Checked baggage will be directly transferred between the shuttle and the plane.
