SCRANTON -- Water gushed down a street on Scranton's west side Friday afternoon after a contractor accidentally hit a water main while digging, according to Pennsylvania American Water.
It happened after 2 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of Luzerne Street.
Water company officials said it was a 16-inch main that was broken.
Water from the break ran down the street and flooded an area near the intersection of Luzerne Street and Meridian Avenue.
There is no word how many homes and businesses are affected.
