LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- In Lackawanna County, there's yet another snag for folks hoping to enjoy a new pool and splash park. A feature of Lackawanna State Park's multi-million dollar pool complex is out of order.
A kid doesn't see all the technology needed to make the new splash pad at Lackawanna State Park work. All they see is infinite fun.
"Me and my brother used to have a battle! It was so much fun!" said Sara Gattorna, who told Newswatch 16 all about the first time she enjoyed the new splash park.
But, when Sara returned with her family Tuesday, they were met with far less splash than they hoped for.
The splash pad, known as The Sprayground, is out-of-order. Park officials told Newswatch 16 that even though it's less than a month old, the splash pad's software needed to be fixed.
"We're hopeful that now that we have the company representative here that we'll gain resolution soon," said park manager Kevin Koflanovich.
The pool complex already had one unexpected closure during its opening weekend last month.
This splash pad news, of course, disappointed some of the pool's youngest patrons.
Piper Brownell hoped to use The Sprayground at her Star Wars seventh birthday party at the park on Sunday. She returned with her cousin on Tuesday, but the splash pad was still off-limits.
Park officials said they hope to work out the kinks by the end of the week. The pool has been open.
Some moms were disappointed they aren't getting all the perks for the price of admission this week. But, the kids made the best of it.
