SCRANTON -- The body found in an SUV discovered down an embankment near Roaring Brook in Scranton has been identified as Frank Bonacci, 24, of Dunmore.
The Lackawanna County Coroner confirmed the identity Sunday afternoon, nearly 24 hours after the SUV was initially found.
Bonacci had been missing for just over a week.He was last seen early on the morning of Saturday, July 20, after going to a party on Linden Street in Scranton with some friends. Police said he drove off from the party alone.
Friends and family posted flyers and organized search parties in an attempt to find him.
"You know, he was there for a lot of people. A lot of people are here because of him. You know, he really changed a lot of people's lives up here, that's for sure," said Bonacci's friend, Kara Boczek of Scranton.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Scranton Police and the Lackawanna County District Attorney's office are investigating.
