SCRANTON, Pa. — Anne Ratchford Kearns, the owner of a Scranton home tied to the family of President Joe Biden, died Christmas Eve at the age of 88.
Her obituary was published Wednesday in The Times-Tribune of Scranton. Her cause of death was not announced.
The Green Ridge home of Biden's youth was purchased by the Kearns family in 1962, according to Lackawanna County property records. Biden has frequently stopped by the house during visits to Scranton.
She played host to Biden several times, most famously perhaps on Election Day in 2020, when Biden wrote "from this house to the White House with the grace of God" on one of the home's walls.
Sources close to the president tell Newswatch 16 that Biden has been in contact with the Kearns family.
Biden, 81, lived in the home with his family until he turned 10.
