LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — Dozens of vendors gathered in part of Lackawanna County on Saturday for a good cause.
The Abington Angels hosted their 11th annual MarketPlace at Abington Heights Middle School in Newton Township near Clarks Summit.
The nonprofit helps support students and families in need by purchasing, packaging, and distributing all of the fixings for holiday meals as well as necessities for each school break.
Organizers say the program helps support hundreds struggling with the rising cost of food.
“For over 300 people that we helped throughout the year. This directly benefits them because we are able to buy the food for them. And with the cost of food increasing this year, we have less to work with. So any help is greatly appreciated," said Jennifer Bachan-Breiten, Abington Angels.
The Angels also provide clothing, school supplies, and even gifts for students in Lackawanna County.
