9/11 Remembrance at McDade Park

The 9/11 Memorial Committee marked the 23rd anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the U.S. in 2001 at the memorial site in McDade Park.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — The 9/11 Memorial Committee marked the 23rd anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the U.S. in 2001 on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, at the memorial site in McDade Park beginning at 8 am. The public was invited. 

Members of the Scranton Police and Fire Departments stood side by side at McDade Park in Lackawanna County on Monday morning to remember the emergency personnel who risked their lives on September 11, 2001. 

Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti also attended along with Lackawanna County Commissioners and students from West Scranton High School. 

The ceremony highlighted the reading of names of Lackawanna County residents who died that day 23 years ago.
