Man arrested, 35 animals rescued from home in Scranton

One person was arrested after dozens of animals were found inside a home in Scranton.

SCRANTON, Pa. — One person was taken into custody Thursday night after dozens of animals were found inside a home in Lackawanna County.

Police and animal control responded to reports of animal hoarding at a home in the 1700 block of Meylert Avenue around 5 p.m.

Police are charging Jesse Goble, 37, of Scranton, with animal neglect and cruelty charges along with resisting arrest. Investigators say Goble failed to care for the animals and kept them in filthy conditions.

Animal control removed 26 cats and two dogs from the property and took them to shelters. Seven puppies were removed from that same house last week.

The house has been condemned.
