TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — Let’s face it. Political ads can get tiresome, but there’s one hilarious ad that will make you want to see more just like it.
It’s a viral political ad starring a wife who begs voters to relieve her of her husband, a number-crunching nerd.
That “nerd” happens to be Gerald Daugherty (Daudry), a Republican running to be Travis County, Texas commissioner with a little eyerolling help from his wife of 21 years.
Gerald’s political consultant dreamed up the ad, inspired by NBC’s “The Office.” It took 6 hours to shoot and the neighbors were played by actual friends.
Gerald thinks his ad went viral because humor takes the edge off the rancor of the 2016 campaign.
At the time of this post, Gerald’s campaign had has been viewed 1.7 million times.
