COLUMBIA COUNTY, Pa. — Tis the season to celebrate all things winter. And this weekend, the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds is the place to do just that. Winterfest is Friday and Saturday.
"It's five buildings, an outdoor pavilion, there's food vendors outside, goat snuggling, horse drawn wagon rides you name it tons of different things," Winterfest Cohost Misty Chapman said.
Winterfest features more than 250 vendors selling everything from gourmet drinks to handmade Christmas items. Joy and Smiles Gifts will be selling "Adopt an Adventure Elf" and advent calendars.
"I love that they're two sided. They don't take up a ton of space and you can put multiple kids things in and it's a tradition you can do for every year," Jodi "The Elf" Giger said.
There is entertainment every hour, including puppet shows, a chili cookoff and the Catawissa Military Band.
"Strike a Pose Dance Studio which brings in their kids and they do a Christmas theme for us here at Winterfest . We have Mel Rivers coming, which is new this year. We have polka and they have a brass band coming and will focus on Christmas music for us and then we have the barbershop coming in again this year," Winterfest Cohost Sondra Eckroth said.
The FaLaLa 5K is Saturday morning. The route goes through the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds.
"The runners will have a fantastic time running the route because we had one of our local Christian schools, Columbia County Christian School did come down, the art and drama departments, painted the entire route for us," Winterfest Cohost Tina Higgins said.
Winterfest runs Friday from 10am-8pm and Saturday from 10am-6pm at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds.
