BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — From teddy bears to turtle doves, crayons to cookware, even Twilight and Toy Story—there are nearly 100 Christmas trees at TreeFest in Bloomsburg, with something for everyone.
"We get trees that are donated and sponsored by local businesses and bring them here and decorate them with various community members and children," Diamond Marrow said.
TreeFest is in its 35th year. It is held at the Caldwell Consistory in Bloomsburg and is a fundraiser for the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble.
"Over the years, 2,000 people," Elizabeth Dowd said. "When you think about all the people who come and decorate, make the ornaments through the year, so many people have a handprint in what is happening here."
When TreeFest is over, all 92 trees will be donated to local families.
"Students from Bloomsburg High School and Central Columbia High School come in. They take all of the ornaments off the trees, all the lights off the trees. Everything is packed up. Families in need come, and all the trees go home to a family who would otherwise probably not have a Christmas tree," Dowd said.
Some of the people who decorate the trees bring along food and toys.
After Treefest, all the food will be donated to the Bloomsburg Food Cupboard, and all toys will be given to Toys for Tots.
TreeFest runs through Sunday at the Caldwell Consistory at 150 Market St, Bloomsburg.
