BLOOMSBURG -- Days before the biggest fair in Pennsylvania is set to start, a ride inspector was hurt at the Bloomsburg Fair.

Fair officials say Brae Landis of Oregon was in a bucket inspecting the sky ride with a Pennsylvania state inspector when his clothes got caught on one of the wheels that guide the cable.

"He had a loose sweatshirt on and it just grabbed him and pulled him into the ride. He's got a sore shoulder and he got a cut on his neck," explained fair director of security Bill Barratt.

Sky ride owner Rick Reithoffer said Landis was riding in a bucket that goes up each tower to inspect the ride.

"He was in a position that no person riding the ride would ever be in," said Reithoffer.

Inspectors spent the rest of the morning making sure the sky ride is safe.

The owner of all of the rides said the sky ride passed all of its inspections and it is safe for people at the Bloomsburg Fair to ride.

"The ride did everything it was supposed to do. It shut off automatically. It's a safe ride. This incident happened while they were inspecting the ride, not because of the ride having a problem," Reithoffer said.

"Accidents happen. Someone who is putting up a concession stand could get hurt," added Barratt.

Landis was taken to Geisinger Medical Center near Danville.

Fair officials say all rides are inspected every day during the fair.
