BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — Gas prices are now the lowest they've been nationally in three years.
"I ain't going to complain, but I'll take my $3 a gallon and run with it for sure," said Adam Malafi of Bloomsburg.
According to AAA, the national average gas price has fallen to $3.02. In Bloomsburg, gas prices are just three cents higher than the national average, at $3.05. Madison Beisswanger, a single mom from Catawissa, says these lower prices make her life much easier.
"I used to work in Millville, so I was driving to Elysburg from Catawissa to Millville every day. And the gas prices, I was filling my tank every few days, three or four days, so it was pretty rough there for a while."
Ricky Long from Berwick echoes a similar sentiment.
"I own a Christmas tree farm in Maryland, and driving down there and back and forth, it gets expensive quick. It's not what it used to be, that's for sure."
At these prices, the drivers we spoke with felt like gas finally cost a fair amount.
"They were for a little bit there eclipsing above $3.40, $3.50, which I think is a little steep, but right around $3, no complaints, tell you that much," said Adam Malafi of Bloomsburg.
"They was high at one point in time, then they go down, then they go back up, but that's common here in the U.S., as I notice. But right now, the gas prices are fair. They're not expensive, they're not cheap, it's just fair, that's all, it balances," said Hector Gonzalez of Bloomsburg.
Hector Gonzalez is right. Gas prices frequently fluctuate, and analysts predict the national average for gas could increase by ten cents at the start of the new year.
