Williamsport man killed in I-80 crash near Bloomsburg

Interstate 80 East in Scott Township was closed for several hours after two separate vehicle crashes, one of which was fatal.

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Pa. — Two vehicle crashes closed Interstate 80 East in Columbia County Sunday night.

Officials say a tractor-trailer overturned around 6:40 p.m. along I-80 East between Exits 236 and 241B in Scott Township near Bloomsburg. No injuries were reported in that crash.

About 10 minutes later, not far from the scene of the first wreck, one car traveling in the westbound lanes crossed into the eastbound lanes, striking a tractor-trailer that caught fire soon after.

The driver of that car, Nickolas Paddock, 32, of Williamsport, was taken to the hospital, where he died.

All lanes were closed overnight as a result of both crashes.

According to PennDOT, that stretch of highway reopened shortly before 5 a.m. Monday.

Traffic should be flowing again after those crashes, one of them deadly, in Columbia County.
