BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — A Bloomsburg man sought for shooting another person during a robbery attempt late last week was locked up Wednesday in Columbia County.

Joseph Ten Eyck, 19, was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Russell Lawton and held at the county jail in lieu of $250,000 bail. State police at Bloomsburg charged Ten Eyck in a criminal complaint with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Troopers accused Ten Eyck of shooting Tyler Brown, 23, in a parking area off Irondale Road in Bloomsburg around 8 p.m. Friday. Brown, according to a probable cause affidavit, was there to sell Ten Eyck a handgun. Ten Eyck had plans to rob him, state police said.

State police identified Ten Eyck because he reportedly left his cell phone behind at the crime scene.

On the phone, troopers found text messages between Ten Eyck and the victim regarding the purchase of a "Sig," investigators alleged in an affidavit. They also found messages requesting assistance from others to make a "move" for a "Sig."

Another suspect, Nicholas Jones, 20, of Berwick, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and criminal use of a communication facility. He locked up on $75,000 bail.

Brown, who was shot several times in his hip and arm, drove himself to a hospital along Fair Street. State police charged Brown with receiving stolen property — the handgun found by police in his car was stolen — and firearm not to be carried without a license. Brown was jailed on $100,000 bail.

Attorney William Stephens, who was listed in a court filing as representing Ten Eyck, could not be immediately reached for comment.

The three defendants are next due in court for preliminary hearings Oct. 16.
