BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — More than two decades after killing a teenager in Columbia County, Brian Quinn was sentenced Wednesday on involuntary manslaughter charges.
Quinn, 46, pleaded guilty last week for his role in the death of Shamar Washington of Williamsport.
According to court papers, Washington, 17, went missing 23 years ago. His body was found in Hemlock Township, just outside of Bloomsburg, on January 13, 2001.
Investigators say he was beaten, shot in the head, and repeatedly stabbed with what is believed to be an ice pick during a drug deal.
Quinn was finally arrested more than two decades later in 2022. Police say he confessed to killing Washington to at least five people.
Quinn was sentenced to 17 and a half months to three years behind bars with credit for time served. He only has about two months left on his sentence and is eligible for immediate parole, dependent on his living situation when released.
"This resolution today will give Brian Quinn the chance to rebuild his life," said Quinn's attorney, Hank Clarke.
State police are still investigating whether a second person was involved in Shamar Washington's death.
