What's new this year at the Bloomsburg Fair

The 169th Bloomsburg Fair is underway, and it gets bigger every year.

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — When you walk into the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds, there's a lot to explore.

Like greeting animals at the All-Star Barnyard Revue, this year, fairgoers get to meet Ra, a three-month-old camel.

"It's nice that, so they're not afraid of the animals, it's nice that they're able to pet them and interact with them, and learn about them. We stopped and read all the signs about the animals, so they enjoyed it," Ashley Hargraves, Sugarloaf.

Ashley Hargraves and her children were making the most of Monday's rainy weather.

"We're just, you know, we grab what food we want, and then we try and find a dry spot, but I even brought an umbrella, and they didn't seem to care; they didn't even want it, so we can just change our clothes when we get home. We're still having a good time."

From over 25 new food vendors to hot air balloon rides, there is something new for everyone to try.

In the horticulture building, amateur florists can test their skills by building their own arrangement of 12 stems at Scott's Bloom Bar.

"We think a lot of people really just like hands-on things, so this allows them to make an arrangement by themselves and just walk away with it," Holly Hoffman, floral designer at Scott's Bloom Bar.

There are plenty of flowers, such as mums, carnations, and lilies.

Scott's Bloom Bar wanted to offer something different this year to help people bring a piece of the fair home with them.

"Everybody that has made one is so excited to see a finished product, and when they're done, they love for you to take their picture and show what they made," said Hoffman.

All new attractions will be here at the fair through Saturday in Columbia County.
