COLUMBIA COUNTY, Pa. — A warehouse near Bloomsburg is filled with toys, holiday decorations, and pretty much anything you can imagine. This is the Animal Resource Center's yard sale, the nonprofit's biggest fundraiser of the year.
"In order to pay for all the medical bills, the food, the litter, the stuff to help the animals, we mainly depend on donations and the funds we receive from the yard sale itself," said Lena Hittle, ARC's yard sale manager.
Every dollar raised goes to the Animal Resource Center, a no-kill shelter in Columbia County.
Laurie Colwell and Elaine Foster are neighbors from Elysburg.
"What we're buying goes towards the animals because we both like the animals," Colwell said.
"This is my third or fourth year," Foster said. "We're habitual shoppers here."
The yard sale runs for about eight months out of the year, and this was the kickoff. People were excited to see what was for sale.
"'I love this place. I come all the time. This is great," Marianna Yost said.
"A good tip: If you want to decorate your house, this is the place to go. That other building has all kinds of decorations cheap," Joanne Truxell said.
The yard sale is accepting donations. You can drop off items Thursday through Sunday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Skatetown Road in Scott Township.
