BERWICK, Pa. — From fishing to soccer and bowling, there was a lot going on at Salem Elementary School in Berwick on Monday. Students from eight school districts gathered for Adapted Field Day.
"A sensory explosion, if you will, because the kids are able to experience so many different activities," said Salem Elementary Principal Greg Michael.
More than 100 kids participated in the event. Middle and high school students from the Berwick Area School District helped out.
"We were doing bowling and volleyball. We were doing kinetic sand and all of that, and now we're doing soccer. The kinetic sand was my favorite out of all of them," Trevor Heckman said.
The students spent the day playing all kinds of games while enjoying the sunshine.
"A really nice day. Everyone is here to play games and stuff," Stewie Frymoyer said.
The event was made possible by a donation from the Lisa's Kids Fund. Lisa Canouse was a former employee in the Berwick Area School District.
"Heavily involved with students in self-contained classrooms. She was a great employee," Michael said.
This is the second year for the event. The Berwick Area School District hopes to do this for many years.
