The holidays are coming year-round to Clinton County

Newswatch 16's Mackenzie Aucker takes us to the Holiday House

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Inside this house at the Wayne Township Nature Park near Lock Haven, you'll find Brian Syters, the township's Recreation Committee Chairman, hard at work.

"We thought about adding something here to the Nature Park, we get a lot of traffic here, a lot of children, they love it here," said Mona Calhoun, Wayne Township Recreation Committee Member.

The Wayne Township Recreation Committee is building a Holiday House to hold holiday events for the community. So far, the committee has raised $5,000, making additions to the house as they go.

"We're certainly not closing the project because we have landscaping, we have furnishings, we have lighting, things like that that we need to purchase for each holiday that we're going to use it for," said Calhoun.

The house is going to be used for numerous holidays all year round, for children and parents to come by and celebrate.

"Have a nice chair in there for Santa to sit with the children, we would go from Christmas into Valentine's Day, people can come and take photos on the porch or, you know, however they want to, it will be decorated seasonally, then into Easter and during the summer, the libraries like to do programs." said Calhoun.

Construction on the Holiday House started last week.

"It's going to have a cathedral ceiling, ceilings will be 10 foot high, so that way it will give us access to put larger Christmas tree in it, a nice chair for Santa, when Santa visit comes and the kids will have a very nice, decorated inside," said Styers.

The Wayne Township Recreation Committee hopes to have the Holiday House completed by November 15th.
