Storm damages homes in Clinton County

Residents in the Lock Haven area are cleaning up after Thursday's heavy rain caused flash flooding and damages.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Damages from rising waters are causing problems for homeowners in Clinton County.

"It started to rain. It got real windy. We couldn't even get out of the house," said Mellanie Boone of Bald Eagle Township.

It didn't take long for heavy rain to cause headaches and damage for people in the path of a line of storms that moved through Clinton County Thursday afternoon. People like Mellanie Boone of Bald Eagle Township.

"It was going every which way. It wasn't any one direction, which we could tell. It's like we were in a car wash and the whole house."

It was the same story for Alex Folmar, who says he hasn't seen flooding like this since 1992.

"Flooded the basement probably ten or so inches, and wiped out garden, and I had to move the cars just in case. It was almost into the cars."

The storm turned creeks and streams into rushing water. Overflowing into yards and crossing streets. When it slowed, crews were out removing fallen trees. For some people, that was too late.

In Flemington Borough, 82-year-old Sandra Yost says she was about to let her dog out to play when the heavy rain began to fall.

"Here's the water gushing up pushed my porch up against my house. I couldn't even let her out. If she would have got out, she would have floated down the creek."

Sandra bought her home five years ago. She says she's worried about the cost of cleanup and what will happen the next time it rains.

"It's more than I can handle. I just can't handle it."
