RENOVO -- Officials still have not released the identity of the woman's body found Saturday near Renovo.
Kelley Jo Snyder went missing Easter Sunday in Clinton County. Saturday night, Kelley Jo Snyder's husband admitted to dumping her body. Then, he admitted to reporting her missing and even faking a ransom note. William Snyder sits inside the Clinton County Correctional Facility facing charges of abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.
Now, people in Renovo say all they can do is wait to see if the body discovered Saturday is Kelley Jo.
"They were excellent neighbors," said Richard Marr, the Snyder's neighbor. "They got along great. They were always good to the children."
Richard Marr lives next to the Snyders on Fourth Street in Renovo and said he taken aback when troopers accused William Snyder of being involved in his wife's disappearance.
"After I heard it was my next door neighbor, it scared us a little bit, because we have a nephew and kids in the house," Marr added.
In court papers, troopers said William Snyder admitted to taking Kelley Jo's body from their home to a remote location south of Renovo. This is after he helped lead the efforts to find his wife and talked to Newswatch 16 last Tuesday.
"We just hope if she is out there and can see this or someone sees this and has any info to get a hold of us," William Snyder told Newswatch 16 last Tuesday.
According to troopers, Snyder also admitted sending a ransom note for $60,000 to his own address in the days after his wife's disappearance, as well as a ransom email before police arrested him Friday at a hotel in upstate New York.
People in Renovo say they just want to know what exactly happened to Kelley Jo Snyder
"Who did it and why," said Matthew Snavely of Renovo.
"Very important and it's a shame the way it turned out for the kids and all but what are you going to do," said Keith Merrill of Renovo.
The autopsy results to determine if that woman's body is in fact Kelley Jo Snyder are expected to be available Monday morning.
