Gearing up for Go Joe 27

Go Joe 27 kicks off Monday morning in Clinton County but Newswatch 16's Chelsea Strub found plenty of folks gearing up for the big bike ride on Sunday.

CLINTON COUNTY, Pa. — Folks gathered at the J. Doyle Corman Amphitheater along the Susquehanna River for a live free concert Sunday night, and it was a perfect setting to kick off Go Joe 27.

Whether it was out on the water, in the stands, or even on stage, the support for Go Joe 27 and the summer of the inflatables was proudly displayed By folks in central Pennsylvania.

The Trip Light band provided the music while meteorologist Joe Snedeker mingled with fans and collected donations for St. Joseph's Center.

St. Joe's serves people in our area with intellectual disabilities, those who seek pregnancy support, adoption assistance, outpatient therapy, and or medical day care services.

On the eve of his week-long ride to raise money for those services, Joe says he's feeling good and loving the support, "Yeah, again, the welcoming, supportive crowd everywhere we go is awesome, and this is just the start of it, so every day for the next five days we're going to be doing this morning noon evening, we ask everyone to come out, donate to St. Joe's and support Go Joe 27."

Before the concert, Joe met up with big-time fan Lois Gallagher from Mill Hall, who's been raising money for St. Joe's herself with these custom t-shirts.

"They all knew how much I love Joe, and I just kept saying I need a t-shirt that says 'I'm like Joe Snedeker I've got a lot of problems,' and finally, when I was retiring, they got me one, and they had it made down at Rachel Kay, and I went in, and I said Rachel, they seem like they liked it on WNEP do you think you could make them, sell them, and send the proceeds to st. Joe's? And she said sure," said Gallagher.

It all starts Monday morning on Newswatch 16 across the river at Lockport Launch Park in Clinton County.
