Coroner says Clinton County drowning is a fishing accident

A 31-year-old Benton man was found in Young Womans Creek in Chapman Township on Saturday afternoon

CLINTON COUNTY, Pa. — The Clinton County coroner's office confirmed Sunday that a man accidentally drowned in a Chapman Township creek this weekend.

The 31-year-old Benton man was identified as James Ray.

Jennifer Sholley, Chief Deputy Coroner, said in a statement that Ray drowned in Young Womans Creek after a fishing accident. He was found unresponsive in the water around 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
