About 34 miles of Interstate 80 in both directions were closed for most of the afternoon Tuesday because of several crashes.
The highway was closed in both directions between the Milton exit (Exit 212B) in Northumberland County and the Lock Haven exit (178) in Clinton County.
PennDOT says the closure was due to a number of crashes that happened because of snow.
The crashes happened around mile marker 192, which is near Jersey Shore.
A representative for PennDOT says the snowy conditions made it hard for emergency responders to get to the crashes right away.
A detour was in place using Interstate 180 and Route 220 to Interstate 80 for westbound traffic, and Route 220 to Interstate 180 to Interstate 80 for eastbound traffic.
