Kicking off the Clinton County Fair

Newswatch 16's Mackenzie Aucker shares what's new at the Clinton County Fair this year.

CLINTON COUNTY, Pa. — Fair season has reached Central Pennsylvania. It's time for the 51st Clinton County Fair. A lot has changed over the last 5 decades. There is a new ride company and fair entry has gone digital for exhibitors.

"We decided we needed to upgrade and make things more accessible for families to be able to enter online," said Barbara Forschey, Clinton County fair manager.

Clinton County Fair officials also added a grounds act called Wolves of the World.

"They'll be bringing wolves out, and doing some demonstrations with them and we understand that there will be pictures available with one of the wolves," said Forschey.

Clinton County fair manager Barbara Forschey tells Newswatch 16 there's been an increase in 4-H and Future Farmers of America Kids at the fair.

"We added more 4-H camping because it does seem to be growing in the county, so we were pretty excited to have to add spots so we can accommodate the families."

There is a little something for everyone. Nancy Young has been coming to the fair for 10 years. Young says she enjoys seeing all of the animals.

"I like to go through pens and see what the kids are capable of raising and that you can see they enjoy grooming them, taking care of them—the horses are my favorite."

Maude Klein from Mill Hall tells us she comes to the fair every year to look at the crafts and visit vendors.

"It's just fun to walk around and see the different booths and eat the food—the sausage sandwiches are great."

The Clinton County Fair runs through Saturday at the fairgrounds near Mackeyville.
