CARBON COUNTY, Pa. — Students in Carbon County have an extra week of summer after a renovation project experienced delays.
The Palmerton Area School District says renovation delays at S.S. Palmer Elementary have pushed back the inspection for their occupancy permit.
As a result, the school board decided last night to delay the start of school districtwide until September 9.
One parent tells Newswatch 16 that her family won't have to make changes, but other families might.
"I don't have to plan my whole schedule and replan my whole schedule for the school year, so I just really feel bad for the parents who had planned everything out. This is really last minute," said Paula Zelienka of Palmerton.
Students will miss a couple of scheduled days off to keep the last day of school on track. The last day of school for the Palmerton area school district is June 10.
