CARBON COUNTY, Pa. — With a crown and pink sash, you can't help but notice Reilly Bauer of Lansford. She was crowned Pennsylvania Junior Miss Amazing back in April.
"Miss Amazing is a pageant for women with disabilities," said Bauer.
Now, she's just weeks away from competing at the National Miss Amazing pageant in Chicago.
"It never gets less exciting; it's always so thrilling," said Reilly.
But before she can get there, the 20-year-old is raising money for her trip. She spent lots of time with her mom baking treats to sell at the Jim Thorpe Market.
Reilly began competing in Miss Amazing pageants when she was just 12 years old. She's won six titles so far.
"It changed the entire course of my life. I was so shy I couldn't make eye contact with anybody, I couldn't hold a conversation, and now that I'm 20, I want to be a leader," said Reilly.
Her latest title, Pennsylvania Junior Miss Amazing, brings more focus to her mission to bring attention to a cause often overlooked.
"Do you see me advocates for those who feel unseen who are going through the same experiences as me," said Reilly.
"We went through a bout of homelessness, and during that time, she graduated high school while we were living in a hotel, and she went to prom while we were living in a hotel," Reilly's mom, Colleen Bauer.
"I also advocate for hidden disabilities because I have autism, and I've heard time and time again that I don't look like I have autism, and it's really hard to live with that," explained Reilly.
Reilly says the trip to Chicago will cost about $4,000 she hopes that she can bring home another national title to Carbon County.
"It's so special you get to meet girls from every state that work so hard to share their specific platforms if they have one,"
