NESQUEHONING -- A major employer in Carbon County known for making firetrucks is being sold.
REV Group announced Monday that it is in the process of taking over Kovatch Mobile Equipment, a family-owned company based in Nesquehoning.
Kovatch makes fire trucks, including pumpers, aerials, and tankers, as well as rescue vehicles and fuel trucks.
Kovatch employs 800 workers in Pennsylvania, Virginia, New York, and California.
REV Group plans to keep the headquarters and manufacturing operations in Carbon County.
REV Group also makes specialty vehicles for commercial, fire, emergency, and recreation purposes.
