HARRISBURG -- It's almost time for what is called the largest indoor agricultural expo in the country: the Pennsylvania Farm Show.
The event starts Saturday in Harrisburg and vendors are getting ready for the big event.
Animals and exhibits are beginning to fill the farm show complex in Harrisburg and that means the big weeklong event is about to start.
Joyce Carnall is with the Pennsylvania Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association.
"It takes a lot of teamwork, and fortunately we've got a wonderful membership in our organization and we're located all over the state."
It's free to get into the Pennsylvania Farm Show and many people checked out the food court the day before the event officially begins. Vendors were already serving up their specialties.
The folks at the Pennsylvania Maple Producers Association say it took a lot of work to get their booth together.
"We were here before the opening and we had to get the tables and all of this set up, and that's a lot of work, and then handling everybody's product," said Jennifer Kern of Waymart.
In addition to the food, animals are a big part of the farm show. Whether you like birds, rabbits, or cows, they are all under one roof. People who bring their animals say it takes a lot to get them competition-ready for the farm show.
"We have to wash our animals a lot before the show and make sure their hair is ready. We have to clip them and everything and just make sure they look good."
Elizabeth Trowbridge of Meshoppen brought two cows to compete. This is her tenth year at the farm show.
"I just like meeting new people and being able to exhibit my animals. It's a lot of fun."
The 99th annual Pennsylvania Farm Show runs through next Saturday in Harrisburg.
