TAMAQUA -- Search crews spent most of the day Thursday looking for a missing Tamaqua area man.
Family and friends reported Jesse Farber, 29, missing Tuesday. Thursday morning, officials say Tamaqua police called for search crews to look in the wooded mountain area behind Tamaqua Area High School.
"There's some very difficult terrain, there's some old mine shafts throughout the area so there is great danger here walking around at nighttime, which is one of our concerns,” said Chief Chris Rudolph of Pocono Search and Rescue.
At any one time, about 50 people were out searching for Farber. Some hiked, others used all-terrain vehicles. A search dog was brought in, too, and a helicopter.
Search crews say this is an area where Farber was known to walk and there are signs someone was here recently.
"There are some clues to tell us that, you know? Somebody has been through the area. We've been checking on those and that's what we're continuing to do,” said Chief Rudolph.
Crews plan to continue their investigation into Farber’s whereabouts Friday and then resume the search of the mountain area Saturday.
