POTTSVILLE--- 'I was shocked, I was like 'Oh my God. ' I couldn't believe it,' said Janice Chaney of Pottsville.

Pottsville police spent hours inside and outside a home on West Norwegian Street Monday.

Police tape surrounded the place as they investigated the suspicious death of a man.

State police and the Schuylkill County District Attorney's office were called to the investigation, too.

"I called my daughter to tell her about it and she knows her and she had talked to the girl that lives there and she said that her boyfriend was murdered. She was crying, she was a mess. She just kept crying," said Chaney.

Newswatch 16 spoke off camera with a woman who said the victim was her adult son.

She and other family members showed up to get more information about what happened before leaving for the city police station.

"It's sad, I mean I feel bad for the family, you know, especially since there's probably a lot of you know, they're probably wondering what exactly went down, what exactly occurred, I'm sure it's a shock to the family, I'm just hoping they resolve it quickly," said Brett Wank of Pottsville.

Other people living in the neighborhood agreed, they want answers, too.

"It's really shocking to think that something could happen this close to your home. I mean I live, no further, less than a football field away and somebody dying right basically, right next to your home, it's crazy," said Olivia Cavanaugh of Pottsville.

"It is a quiet street, I never know of anything going on around here, you don't hear of it, you know in Pottsville like this," said Chaney.
