TOWANDA, Pa. — The group "Friends of Bradford County Library" are taking legal action against the county commissioners after months of closed-door meetings to decide if the library near Troy should remain open.
The group advocates for the county’s library to remain open and argues that the actions of the commissioners violate the state’s Sunshine Act, which requires agencies to host public meetings before taking official action.
In September, the commissioners proposed to move the Bradford County Veteran’s Service office into the library, with the library’s budget distributed to eight other independent libraries in the county.
The Bradford County commissioners have not commented on the lawsuit.
